The Human Touch

Dream Center volunteer hugging inner city youth. From St. Louis, Missouri, to the streets of Russia, your support is bringing the love of God and critical support to those living in inner cities.

Bringing God's Love to the Streets of the Inner City

From the old railway stations in Moscow to the crowded streets of West Palm Beach, your support is offering a hand up to tens of thousands living in the world’s inner cities.

United States
Founded and operated by Joyce Meyer Ministries, the St. Louis Dream Center external link church and outreach center provided over 180,000 meals to the hungry and reached out to thousands who were homeless.

We also made over 30,000 visits to area homes and more than 30,000 visits to nursing homes and retirement communities—offering prayer, gifts and loving guidance.

In 2008, we also got to be a part of touching the lives of 5,000 inner-city families in West Palm Beach, Florida through our partnership with Urban Youth Impact external link and we teamed up with the Los Angeles Dream Center external link in California to feed nearly 240,000 people and teach the Gospel to more than 3,000 children each month.

South Africa
Durban, South Africa, is a dangerous place...especially for the children living on its streets. Here, they are constantly at-risk of physical abuse, and so many revert to prostitution just to survive.

This past year, we continued to partner with Umthumbo external link, an organization dedicated to helping children come off the streets. With God’s help, we are not only helping provide food and counseling, but we are also a part of reuniting children with their families and offering critical assistance to strengthen their home life.

Russia
In Moscow, the railway stations have become a common place for homeless teenagers to congregate. So many of them have come from broken family situations and have been abandoned by their parents. Others ran away from home to simply escape the pain.

Through our support of House of Mercy external link, we are weekly reaching out to these children with warm meals, clothing and the love of Christ. Our consistent visits have opened the door for us to pray with many of the teenagers and even help them come off the streets for good.

"There is nothing more rewarding or precious to God than seeing someone find hope in the good news that God loves them and has a special plan for their life. We do what we do for the hope of seeing lives changed."

Did you know?
    • 1 billion people are either homeless or living in poor housing.1

    • There are over 100 million street children worldwide.2

    • About 90 percent of them are addicted to inhalants like shoe glue and paint thinner.3

    • When a child is mentored, they are 80% less likely to end up in jail, 46% less likely to start using illegal drugs, and 27% less likely to start drinking alcohol.

    • With your support, we invested in the lives of over 15,000 inner-city youth—sharing our love, time, attention and the Word of God.
