Hitting the Road

Conferences Minister to More Than 1.3 Million
Lives were changed, thousands rushed to the altars, and the Word of God brought hope and forgiveness to nations struggling from the bitterness or war and ruin.

Throughout 2008, Joyce and the team from Joyce Meyer Ministries hit the road, traveled across the ocean and held powerful conferences, featuring practical teaching with Joyce and worship with some of the best artists in the world. In 2008, the team went to thirteen U.S. cities, seeing an attendance of more than 300,000 and 8,389 salvations. They also held conferences in five countries with an attendance of more than 1.3 million.

“No matter what city we go to, lives are being changed. After so many years, I’m still seeing just as many people coming to the meetings who are looking for something because they are hurting. When they leave I hear them talking, and I can see a difference in them. I know they are going to go away and become a different person,” says Doug Holtzmann, Conference Director.

INDIA
January 18-21, Joyce Meyer Ministries returned to Mumbai, India, to hold a power-packed four-day Festival of Life crusade. Joyce was joined by several guest speakers, including Brian Houston, Paul Scanlon and Christine Caine and worship with Delirious?, Darlene Zschech and Hillsong.

The crusade was a massive logistical undertaking. It took nearly a year and over 2,000 volunteers to pull it off. To hold such an enormous crusade, they had to receive permission from twenty-eight government agencies.

However, numerous churches and denominations joined together to make it happen, and they were extremely pleased with the outcome. In fact, Joyce Meyer was welcomed and was designated the official title “Guest of the State”—the first time a major Christian figure had ever been extended such an honor.

Of the over 1 million who attended the crusade, approximately 400,000 made a decision to accept Christ!

NEPAL
On this Sunday afternoon, January 13, there was a sense that history was being made as a truly energetic crowd of more than 13,000 came to hear Joyce speak. Very few people have gone to Nepal to hold large meetings, so the people were extremely excited. At one time, Nepal claimed to be the only true Hindu nation, but on this Sunday, Jesus was proclaimed and many were saved.

Earlier that day Joyce had the chance to minister to nearly 1,500 of the nation’s pastors and leaders at a special leaders’ seminar. Like the public festival, it was a great success. In a country where less than 2 percent are Christians, God is moving in a big way and we were honored to be a part of it.

AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND
In July, Dave and Joyce traveled Down Under where Joyce was a guest speaker, along with Pastor Brian Houston for Hillsong Conference ’08 in Sydney. Our team also traveled to Christchurch, New Zealand, where Joyce spoke at a special women’s event where more than 6,000 attended.

GULU, UGANDA
In two nights, more than 200,000 people stood on a dusty plot of land to hear Joyce speak about moving their country forward into restoration and forgiveness.

"I saw Mom preach with an incredible boldness I have not seen in a while," says David L. Meyer, CEO of Hand of Hope. "She helped break down many walls of fear, brokenness and helplessness that the years of war have left. But she did not leave it there. She went on to preach a powerful message of hope and a bright future. Although it may sound a little cliché, I am 100 percent convinced Gulu will never be the same."

While in Uganda, Joyce also spoke to a crowd of 20,000 in Kampala and to 7,000 at a women’s event in a smaller village.

Words from Dave: A Growing Passion

"Thirteen years ago a friend sent me the book America’s Providential History. At the time, I simply had no idea how much it would change my life. It opened my eyes to the incredible plan God had for our country—and I was deeply reminded of the many sacrifices that men and women of the past were willing to make so that we can reap the blessings of living in a free nation.

This experience caused me to repent and weep over my own ignorance about our heritage and how we have evolved. In so many ways, we have forgotten the great and mighty things that the Lord has done, and we are reaping the consequences.
Dave Meyer
That year, God ignited a passion in my heart to share America’s heritage. I realized we were failing to maintain the nation that He had given us the privilege to live in. Since that time, I have addressed the attendees at nearly every one of our conferences—hundreds of thousands over the years—teaching on God’s undeniable part in making America great and encouraging people so that they may know how to pray and take action.

Woodrow Wilson said, “A nation that doesn’t remember what it was yesterday doesn’t know what it is today, nor what it is trying to do.” For the past twelve years it has been my passion to share our godly history. I will continue to spread the truth of God’s divine role and pray that the hearts of Americans will once again remember what America was yesterday so that we can know what our responsibility is today."

Tharina P: Testimony from a Volunteer

A Servant’s Heart

"I have volunteered at the Women’s Conference in St. Louis for five years now. Each year I am amazed. I have wept with joy as I watched two young girls standing in the same row as lady in her seventies…all three accepting Christ into their lives.

It really doesn’t matter where they put me—in the nosebleed section or down on the floor—I know that I am where God needs me, and it truly is an honor to serve Him and the ladies I meet."
